Film making is Erin’s calling. Whether writing a script, producing a music video or directing a film, she’s in her most natural element. Since the time she was a young girl, she has looked at things from a cinematic view, seeing the world as form, framing and content, as though always looking through a camera lens. With a background in photography and a strong appreciation for the art of montage and abstraction, Erin’s films develop her stories using a strong visual vocabulary. The stories of her subjects are brought to life through setting, action and costuming as much as through dialogue.

Projects in the near future include writing and directing more music videos as well as completing the script, and then directing Love is a Dairy Product, her latest feature film* as well as work on a documentary film.

Inspired by the French film The Red Balloon, The Pink Dress chronicles the travels of a very pink bridesmaid's dress. Featuring all original music, this silent film was written, directed, produced, and entirely crewed by women. “This is a story about perception. It expresses thesubjective nature of art. Everyone has different ideas about what is beautiful and this story pours through the gamut.”

Concept by Dan Jansen, Mirror Man is a story about a young man, Vincent, whose life becomes complex after his mother's death. Vincent finds that the only way to endure his loss is to look at the world through reflections in mirrors “Mirror Man is a story of a young man’s fear, repression, and denial. The irony is that Vincent, unlike most of us, is not troubled or embarrassed by his fears; he owns them and does not apologize for them.”

Set to the music of Alan Menken, this short film provides a glimpse of ten significant films made before 1950, with emphasis on the eyes. “This short was a study in editing, and the films I’ve used cover the spectrum from American silent films, to German expressionist films, to the beginnings of special effects in French cinema.”

A montage of the beauty of my midtown neighborhood set to the “Flower Duet” from the opera Lakme. “Many people who do not live downtown see the big city as a dirty, noisy, unpleasant place to be. I do live in the city and I love it! In one walk around the block, I found that there is beauty every step of the way.”

Set to the music “Arabian Dance” from The Nutcracker Suite, this montage is a colorful vision comparing and contrasting the two worlds, above land and below the sea. “I was inspired by a peaceful autumn rain. Water Dance is a visual poem expressing how water unites and sustains us all as the primordial life source.”
